IP Management

CRC CARE carefully monitors the IP commercialisation activities of its projects and programs to ensure that the CRC’s objectives are met and that the national benefit of its commercialisation activities are maximised.

CRC CARE maintain a central register of Intellectual Property generated and commercialisation outcomes achieved to enable regular reporting and review of the outcomes.

CRC CARE protects and exploits the intellectual property generated by the organisation and its partners by:

  • Early identification of background and foreground IP
  • Applying the appropriate protection strategy including Patents, Trademarks, Copyrights, and Design protection
  • Strict enforcement of confidentiality by project participants and centre partners
  • Maintaining IP registers
  • Appropriate IP licensing and/or assignment arrangements

CRC CARE’s IP Management processes include:

  • The identification of potential IP at the project proposal stage and then ongoing monitoring as the project proceeds in conjunction with the Program Leader and the General Manager.
  • Providing IP support to all researchers and students through the services of  the General Manager and external advisors
  • Running educational seminars during induction and advanced workshops on IP for students and researchers
  • Involving researchers, business and legal staff in all IP negotiations
  • Maintaining a formal IP register and having this regularly reviewed by the Commercialisation Committee
