Contaminated Site Assessment and Planning Workshop
7 - 9 September 2010
Registrations have now closed for this event.
In partnership with leading contaminated land industry
professionals, ARIC is coordinating a 3 day Contaminated Site
Assessment and Planning short course, to be held in Sydney from 7 -
9 September 2010. The course will provide participants with a
grounding in the concepts and tools currently used in assessing
environmental contamination. Participants will also gain an
understanding of the protocols, methodologies and processes used in
the assessment process, in addition to planning issues associated
with the implementation of remediation strategies.
The target audience for this workshop is environmental managers
and officers who are dealing with the ongoing management and
questions surrounding contaminated sites; those people who need to
respond to environmental consultants regarding contaminated land
reports; recent graduates who have joined environmental consulting
firms and looking to further their understanding of the industry;
and environmental scientists, engineers, and consultants looking to
transfer their skills and experience to the field of contaminated
sites. It is not expected that the attendees will be trained to
undertake field work; rather, they will be provided with the skills
and understanding needed to assess and respond to
contaminated site project proposals, reports and other submissions
from consultants.
The course will include three days of
interactive education presentations, supported by prior reading
material. The training will cover fundamental steps in contaminated
site assessment in accordance with current industry best practice,
guidelines and standards. The workshop will involve theory,
practice, site visits and case studies.
