Project 1-1-02-05/06: Complex Resistivity Measurements of Interactions Between Organic Chemicals and Sediments

Project Leader: Dr Bryce Kelly

Duration of Project: March 2006 - February 2009

Project Summary

This project aims to assess whether complex resistivity tomography could be used in the field to cost effectively map DNAPL sources at contaminated sites. A number of DNAPL chemicals pertinent to Australia will be mixed with sediment from Australian industrial sites to assess its potential use.

If laboratory measurements show successful detection of clay/organic interatctions then this technique will be field trialled.
