Project 2-5-05-05/06: Gradient permeable reactive barrier for groundwater remediation

Project Leaders: Professor Saravanamuthu Vigneswaran and Dr Shaobin Wang

Duration of project: October 2006 - December 2009

Project Summary

The objective of this project is to devise an effective permeable reactive barrier for complete degradation of toxic organic pollutants and some heavy metals from the contaminated subsurface water, which is suited to Australian contaminated sites. Complete degradation would be achieved by combining chemical (advanced) oxidation and adsorption/biosorption techniques.
