Community perceptions and acceptance

This subprogram will research community perceptions and the acceptance of risk associated with contaminated sites, the means for improving community understanding of such risks, and the extent of psychological and social impacts associated with contaminated sites.  The aim is to develop a protocol for risk communication for use in communities affected by site contamination and to have this adopted by regulators.

Projects

The following projects are currently being undertaken:

  • Australian community perspectives on contamination and clean-up
  • Building consensus about contamination
  • Value-based decision making for site clean-up
