See who sponsored CleanUp 2015

Thank you to everyone who participated in CleanUp 2015!

CleanUp 2015 was attended by close to 700 delegates. More than 100 delegates came from abroad, representing 23 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe and North America. The conference has grown impressively over the years, which is testament to the generosity of all of our sponsors, and particularly EPA Victoria. Their support has helped CRC CARE to build the event to its current level.

The event got off to a bright start on Sunday 13 September, when it was officially launched by Dr Gillian Sparkes, Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability Victoria. Ms Cheryl Batagol, Chairman of Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Victoria then delivered The Brian Robinson memorial lecture, outlining the role of the EPA in addressing the issues of environmental contamination and urban renewal.

The conference covered 43 themes across 66 sessions. A total of 356 papers were received, of which 241 were presented in oral sessions and 64 in the poster session. The conference proceedings is now available online as a searchable e-book free to download here.

Over 350 delegates attended the gala dinner which was once again the social highlight of the event and included an awards ceremony recognising excellence in field of contaminated site remediation. The sought-after CARE Award was presented to Maroun Rahme of Nu-Rock technology for their innovative building products made from industrial waste. For their contributions to the CRC over many years, the title of CRC CARE Fellow was awarded to Andrew Pruszinski (SA EPA), Stuart McConnell (Victorian Department of Environment and Primary Industries), Naji Akladiss (Maine Department of Environmental Protection) and Professor Kirk Semple (University of Nottingham). Dr Liang Wang of the University of Newcastle won the Perkin Elmer Award for Innovation in Analytical Sciences for his development of a sensor probe for analysing contaminants, and the Best Poster Award was presented to Ms Cuixia Liu, PhD candidate at the Global Centre for Environmental Remediation at the University of Newcastle.

Thanks again to all of our sponsors, exhibitors and delegates for contributing to the success of CleanUp 2015. See you next time at the 7th International Contaminated Site Remediation Conference, which will take place in Melbourne on 10-13 September 2017.
