CleanUp Emerging Contaminants Virtual Symposium 2021

Date:
24 March 2021 09:00 AM - 25 March 2021 05:00 PM
Location:
Online
Category:
Events, Conferences

The 2-day online CleanUp Emerging Contaminants Symposium will focus on the latest developments in the detection, fate and transport, risk assessment, clean-up, and regulation of emerging contaminants (ECs). It will bring together world-renowned experts and leaders from academia, government, the regulatory community, site owners, private consulting agencies, and other environmental sectors.

Purpose of the symposium

The Lancet Commission on Global Pollution and Health (2017) stated that, “Pollution is the largest environmental cause of disease and premature death in the world today”. In most severely affected countries, pollution-related disease is responsible for more than one death in four.

Contamination by the chemical products and by-products of human activity is one of the most pervasive and far-reaching of our impacts on the Earth and on our health and wellbeing. Traces of anthropogenic contamination are now found from the stratosphere to the deep oceans, from pole to pole, in many forms of wildlife, in all modern societies, in the food chain, and in almost all people, including newborns. Focusing on ECs, this virtual symposium will explore the many dimensions associated with their origin, presence, properties and the source-to-effects continuum.

The event will bring together international experts working on policy, new analytical methods, and innovative means of managing ECs.

Why attend?

The Emerging Contaminants Symposium 2021 aims to be the leading global forum for recent advances in ECs. It will support and promote science that underpins risk-based management of ECs and will host interactive forums that identify the major constraints to their effective remediation.

This symposium provides an opportunity to put your organisation at the forefront of best practice in dealing with ECs and will foster a more economically sustainable approach that does not compromise human or environmental health.

Who should attend?

Policy- and law-makers, regulators, landowners, contamination consultants, remediation practitioners, geologists, researchers, and academics.

Main themes
